Here we are, at last. Please, take a look at my work in progress. These are some shots of the first encounter of my upcoming D&D campaign. The dwarf is just passing by.

Hairpins and Z-CLIPS templates are a really good idea as the gig for aligning the bases (6 x 6 from Rio Draco). I also thank Mr Buck for the fountain (it was very difficult to build, but it looks like it has been taken from the original map). Next step is city wall (including Zephalo's broken wall) and another building. The final touch will be the wagons...
Ciao,
Maurizio

All looking damn-cool!
| I do not live in London, I live in South London. South London is different, a warm melting pot where everyone can become a bona fide South Londoner by virtue of two things. One: living in South London, and two: having no aspiration to live in the Cotswolds.

This is from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide, right? Looks great! Just like I remember it in the book! Nice work bringing it to the gaming table!

Looking good, Maurizio.
If it is the town that features in the 4E Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide, the English language edition calls it "Loudwater".
Are you doing a published adventure or something of your own making?
I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures.

It is Loudwater indeed, but I was scared of copyright issues. It is a quotation, after all.

Looks terrific, Mau. I'm sure your group will be amazed.
I wouldn't worry about annoying the WotC folks regarding the name. Their only complaint could be that you're not using any of their Dungeon Tiles...but then again, they haven't made any that let you recreate the town.
Keep us in the loop about how everything goes.

Thanks for the nice words. Here it is a quick update.

Today I am on vacation and I had time to start putting together the walls. I must really praise Zephalo for the breach in the wall. It looks terrific.
Next in construction line are: a building, Zephalo's (again, the man rules) 3D crenelations, and some rubble. Then if Tom can prepare that wagon without cover... I will add 3 or 4 of them.
Ciao,
Maurizio

Dear all,
I have added some new pictures, including my desk during the speed assembly and the first room of the Barrow (Room B2, actually).
See pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/44238443@N03/
I created a custom slope to simulate the difference of level (5 feet) and I used the taller walls and the elevations from E-Z Dungeons Deluxe Expansion 1 to that goal.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/44238443@N03/4098477005/
The walls with the hairpins are stable, but not as much as the floor. Likely I will use some "magic" tape at the game table. Still missing the final touches, but I will use other miniatures for the statues.
Now I am just missing those wagons... I will also start cutting the other rooms with the regular dungeon pieces. I will likely need a transition to the caverns room. Tom? Zeph?
Any feedback on the current layout will be really appreciated. Gaming test coming soon. I am counting the days.
Ciao,
M.
P.S. We really need an easier way to set up multiple heights in the same map. For example, pieces like those of the hills in the forest expansion.

One more lesson learned: I will never build again arched doors that can be opened. I think Tom and FDG really need to convert to E-Z Dungeons the squared doors coming with Dragonshire Interiors. It took me forever this time to build an arched door that can be opened. Interior doors are much easier to put together.
Ciao,
M.

Interesting work, Maurizio. I like the slope. I can't help but wonder if, for the floor of room #1, it would be better to just use a piece of foam core with foam core risers underneath.
I like the arched doors. They do take a little more patience, but if you leave the arch slightly recessed, it works well.
Cheers,

Me too. I really thought that using the elevations was the right way to replicate the map, including the large trap hole that is in the middle of the room (I will simply remove the central elevations when a PW falls in.) However, it was too late when I realized that I also needed special elevations to fill the small gaps from the wall and their first adjacent squares. (In fact, the walls are in the middle of the square.)

I like the final effect, but I really prefer the other doors. Maybe I simply need to move the door in the middle of the arch, ignoring the cutting line that puts it close to the wall.
Thanks for the feedback. Ciao,
M.
