I'm starting a new 1st level D&D 1e group and I've completed the terrain for their first major encounter, the Crypt of Col Fen. This is made with a mix of products from at least six suppliers, FDG, Dave Graffam, WWG, and Arid Hills, Lord Zsezse Works, and something free from D&D. Who says you can't mix and match this stuff?
Nice job! I integrated this location into my old campaign from 2 years ago. It was fun, but we found that the crypt battles were really cramped. And I was only using 2D maps at the time.
It looks like you spent a lot of time on the outdoor stuff, are you planning on having a bigger encounter there than what was published?
And I really like the Expansion 3 walls used as the inside of the crypt. They look perfect for the job.
I made each space a little larger, we'll see if it is enough. I might lift the walls off if we have problems.
I've not decided if I want to use the outdoor space. Depends on how well the party does - the encounters look pretty tough as written.
The Expansion 3 walls were perfect. I don't know if you noticed, I had to kitbash the textures onto things - to make the peak in the back match the front door, I bashed the statue texture on. Also, I bashed the textures onto the Winterhawk Ruin walls (with and without windows, though I'm only using without.)
